The facts

Taxpayer dollars
for rioters

How the deal happened

Trump’s current personal lawyer sued his former personal lawyer, now the Attorney General. They settled out of court to award Trump and January 6 rioters taxpayer dollars. The judge slammed the deal, asking: “Do you think this is legal?”

Even Republicans object

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) called the fund “stupid on stilts,” adding: “Imagine a fund set up to compensate people who assaulted Capitol police officers.”

Pardoned rioters include

  • 38 with prior convictions
  • One later sentenced to life for plotting to attack FBI agents
  • Another convicted of child sex abuse
  • At least 40 more facing new criminal charges since their pardons

That’s ten times more per person than our government spends on actual wounded military service members each year.
